Clay Vines

Clay Vines — “Cowboy”

Clay was born in Livingston, Montana only a few hours from West Yellowstone. Like most Montanans, Clay grew up near prime fly fishing water. In his case, the Yellowstone River. Now that he’s all grown up he spends as many days on the Madison river as any guide in the area. He also enjoys taking clients floating on the Yellowstone, wading in Yellowstone National Park or floating on one of our many lakes. You’ll find him eager to tie on dry flies wheree he’s fishing. Clay is the lone legacy at BRF. His dad was one of the guides in the early years of the business. Clay was running around the shop as a toddler, so it came as no surprise when he began his guiding career with us in 2008. Clay’s patience and calm demeanor are seldom found in a guide of his age, and his country wit can get a smile out of anyone. Clay lives in West Yellowstone year-round. If he isn’t out fishing you can bet he’s hunting somewhere.
