BRF Fly Selection - Soft Hackles — $64.99 Soft hackles are very enjoyable to fish and also extremely effective, and we've been huge fans of fishing soft hackled wet flies for many years. Few flies are as versatile, as fish will take them on the swing, nymphed deep, or dead drifted in the film. From spring through fall, we won't hit the river without a healthy stash of soft hackles in our vests and packs. Now we've combined a dozen of our favorite patterns to form the ultimate soft hackle selection, so whether you are a seasoned angler or are new to soft hackle fishing, you'll be covered no matter what situation you might encounter.

Copper Quill Nymph — $2.50 New for 2019! With the Copper Quill Nymph, we've combined the best Euro nymph attributes with a traditional look to create one simple, do-it-all pattern. It's just flashy enough to fish as an attractor when searching the water, but still natural enough in appearance to fool picky trout that are feeding on specific nymphs. The tungsten bead will get it down fast, the hot spot adds a bit of extra attraction for more aggressive fish, and the natural-looking quill body provides enough lifelike detail to fool more selective fish. Our favorite time to fish it is June and July on the Madison and Gallatin when PMD nymphs are most active, but we've had great success with it from spring through fall. Size 16.

Razor Mayfly - Baetis — $2.50 New for 2019! We’ve spent a lot of time experimenting with adding foam to some of our dry fly patterns to help improve floatation. Aaron’s Razor Caddis was the first for us, and his new Razor Mayfly is the next step in that process. The foam body on the Razor Mayfly won’t soak up water and will help keep the fly floating, even in tiny sizes. The Baetis Razor Mayfly was Aaron's go-to fly on the Firehole River this past season, taking fish all fall when the water was low and the fish were at their pickiest. With proper presentation, sipping bank feeders all took this fly with confidence. We've also had success with it on the Madison, Gallatin, and Henry's Fork, and we feel it will quickly earn a place in your Baetis box. Available in size 18 and 20.

Razor Mayfly - Green Drake — $2.50 New for 2019! We've spent a lot of time experimenting with adding foam to some of our dry fly patterns to help improve floatation. Aaron's Razor Caddis was the first for us, and his new Razor Mayfly is the next step in that process. The foam body on the Razor Mayfly won't soak up water and will help keep the fly floating, even in tiny sizes. The Green Drake Razor Mayfly is tied big and bushy to best imitate the chunky drakes found on area rivers like the Henry's Fork, Madison, Gallatin, and Yellowstone, and will float high on choppy waters. Green Drakes will often bring out the biggest fish in the river to feed on the surface, and we've found this fly to be a big fish magnet! Size 12.

Razor Mayfly - Pink Lady — $2.50 New for 2019! The Epeorus mayfly has become one of the major summer hatches on the Madison over the last decade, and our guides will often fish a pink fly more than any other color during the month of July. The Pink Lady Razor Mayfly took many trout for our crew this past summer while both float and wade fishing, and it proved to be effective both during the daytime and in waning evening light. It floats well in rough and tumble pocket water, and the white wing makes it easy to see. We've also had great success using it as an attractor on smaller creeks all across the region. Size 16.
-
Razor Mayfly - PMD — $2.50 New for 2019! The PMD is our most famous western hatch, and there is nothing quite like watching a steadily rising trout confidently inhale these yellow mayflies. The PMD Razor Mayfly is a fly that we feel confident fishing on virtually any river in Yellowstone country, knowing that trout everywhere recognize these insects and that they'll rarely refuse this pattern. If you're headed to our neck of the woods any time from June through early August, this is a pattern that you'll definitely want to have. Size 16.

Sale Fly - Cinnamon Flying Ant — $1.00 This simple ant pattern is easy to see, and mimics natural flying ants perfectly. Regularly $2.50.
-
Sale Fly - Crack Back PMD Nymph — $1.00 In the same manner as the Split Case PMD nymph, this fly imitates a nymph that is just about to emerge from its shuck into an adult. Be sure to give it a try on the Madison in July. Regularly $2.50.
-
Sale Fly - Improved Sunken Stone - Tan — $1.50 This version of Nick's classic Sunken Stone is tied with a foam body for extra flotation, and a more drab color scheme for when the fish have already seen a million bright orange flies float past them. Size 8.
-

-
Sale Fly - Olive PMX — $1.00 A great all-around attractor pattern! Regularly $2.50.
-
Sale Fly - Rambo Nymph — $1.00 The Rambo is a sparse little beadhead nymph that has worked wonders on the Madison and Gallatin this past season. It is generic enough to mimic several different insects, and the trout just eat it up. Size 16. Regularly $2.50.
-
Sale Fly - Squirrel Nymph — $1.00 This is a great choice for early season on the Madison, particularly during run-off and post run-off when yellow sallies and small golden stones are active.
-
Sale Fly - Zepupalon — $1.00 This great little caddis pupa comes from our good friend, Rowan Nyman. It is highly effective on the Madison in June and July, when Hydropsyche caddis are consistently active. Size 16.

Super Squirrel - Claret — $2.99 New for 2019! We love fishing small streamers here at BRF. We’ve often found that even though most anglers will tend to fish larger patterns in hopes of hooking a monster, the majority of fish will respond better to a smaller streamer in a wider variety of conditions. It’s still a sizable meal to a trout, but not so large as to turn off less aggressive fish. We first tied the Super Squirrel to fill this niche, and it has been a home run. Reminiscent of old steelhead patterns, this color scheme is all about the swing. It's been a great choice over the last few seasons when fishing for fall runners, fooling many big browns and rainbows while swinging through the Madison's classic runs. The hook is stout enough to hold big fish that tend to hit this fly hard, so be sure to use stout tippet! Size 8.
-
Super Squirrel - Natural — $2.99 New for 2019! We love fishing small streamers here at BRF. We've often found that even though most anglers will tend to fish larger patterns in hopes of hooking a monster, the majority of fish will respond better to a smaller streamer in a wider variety of conditions. It's still a sizable meal to a trout, but not so large as to turn off less aggressive fish. We first tied the Super Squirrel to fill this niche, and it has been a home run. The natural color scheme on this fly has proven effective both on the strip and dead-drifted on local rivers like the Madison and Firehole, particularly during early season in high water. It's also a great leech and minnow imitation for stillwater anglers, and it will take fish on local lakes like Hebgen and Quake, especially right at ice out. Size 8.
-
Super Squirrel - Olive — $2.99 New for 2019! This olive color scheme may be the most versatile of all the Super Squirrels. It can be fished dead-drifted or stripped to imitate a small sculpin, it's a great stillwater choice to mimic leeches and damsel nymphs, and we've had planty of success with it on the swing, too. No matter how you fish it, you can't go wrong! Size 8.
-
Super Squirrel - Orange — $2.99 New for 2019! We designed this color scheme with aggressive fall fish in mind, as orange and yellow are well-known trigger colors for pre-spawn browns in particular. We've had great success with both run-up browns and rainbows on the Madison in the Park, and it has been a top producer for us over the last several seasons. It works well on the strip, though our favorite way to fish it is on the swing with a spey or switch rod. Size 8.
-
Tommy’s Caddis Pupa — $2.50 New for 2019! This fly comes from our friend Tommy Bradford, an excellent fly tyer and fisherman. Tommy spends all summer fishing the Madison and has a lot of knowledge on fishing the river, so when he shows us a fly, we know it's been tested extensively and has proven successful. Tommy first showed this fly to a few of our guides several seasons back, and they've been clamoring for us to get this fly in the bins ever since. It's been most successful nymphed deep during spring and summer to imitate caddis larvae, but is also a great swinging fly when caddis pupa are more active. Size 14.
-
Twisted Midge — $2.50 New for 2019! Craig fishes midges on the Madison year round, and as such he is the most knowledgeable midge fisherman that we know. So, when Craig tells us about a new midge pattern he's developed, we're all ears. Such was the case this past year with the Twisted Midge, which has been one of Craig's most successful flies over the past several seasons. Trout can be really tough to fool when keying in on single emerging midges, but the Twisted Midge is such a dead ringer for the natural that fish take it with confidence. It's also durable and floats well, which are both key when fishing small flies. Size 20.
-
“The One” Sculpin — $3.99 This is a mean streamer that big brown trout will hammer. It's a great pattern to have in your fall line up. It looks good and is something the fish haven't seen too often. Size 4.

$3 Bridge Serendipity - Beadhead — $2.50 No other beadhead nymph has caused as much excitement in the fishing community here in Yellowstone Country as the $3 Bridge Serendipity. Casually called the $3 Dip, these simple little nymphs have found their way into the fly box of every guide.
-
$3 Bridge Serendipity - Original — $2.50 When Nick Nicklas first came up with this fly he kept it to himself for quite a few years. Once the cat was out of the bag, our guides demanded we tie plenty. This is still one of our favorite nymphs for our area waters and think it will become one of yours too.
-
$3 Bridge Serendipity - Wired — $2.50 Patrick Daigle came up with the Wired $3 Dip for fishing the shallows of the Madison without the need for additional weight. Two strands of wire give the fly that extra bit of heft to get down without split shot. Size 16.

2019 Fly of The Month Club — $69.99 The Fly of the Month Club has been a lot of fun for us over the past number of years and we think very beneficial to past members. These are a combination of new flies that we are working on and in the process of testing, as well as an occasional old pattern that we have rediscovered. Many of these patterns become new additions to our fly bins each year. The first mailing of the year will ship in mid-January and will include a set of tying instructions for our 2019 new flies. After that, around the first of each month you'll receive a new cutting-edge pattern, complete with a detailed photo, tying instructions, and a sample fly. If you are an avid fly tyer, this program will be a lot of fun for you, and even if you are not but know someone who loves to tie, this makes a great gift as well!
