John; I have been following your Winter, through the Blog and every ones comments on the e-mail fishing report. I have noticed every one is tried of Winter, but my concern is about the Wintering game.Would you Please update us on the condition of the criters. We have some Snow tells at 140%, big water on the rise. Thanks John always interesting

April is a critical time for larger wildlife, a month that really puts their fitness to the test. The daily thaw/freeze cycle and the sheer amount of snow left really limits access to what food remains. I don’t know how they’re all going to fare, but so far it’s been tough. And since winterkill can easily persist through May, we won’t know how bad it was until it’s all said and done. The forecast for the next week suggests more winter than spring, and that’s not good—for the animals or us!

John: Thanks for the info, I’ve been watching the deer over here, there are less than normal that make that migration from West Yellowstone to there Wintering grounds here in the Cody area. Most people do not realize that they come that far, but they sure do. Some are starting to gather, hope they realize it is too soon. I did see the forcast for your area, man it looks like Snow.
