John:
This is a magnificent, moody low key exposure! I’m jealous.
It’s been so long since Jack and I have seen you. I miss our latin lessons laughing about the trout we’ve lost and the artificial flies that drew them near our frauds to only see them squirt a bulge of water in contempt and then return to the deep. Every time I see a discosmoecus I think of the time you charged me with bringing one back from Fan Creek.
I have always admired your photography and hope someday we can both put the rod and reel aside and spend the morning catching images of Yellowstone. I’d have much to learn from you. Capturing images like this one is a thrill like nothing less than watching a Lamar Cutthroat rise to a custom designed fly.
I’ve not gotten to Montana for two years but hope to remedy that next year. We must meet up next Fall. I’d love to spend time photographing with you.
